Simon undertakes a large range of family law work including:

Children's Matters

Simon regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia on interim applications and trials involving disputed parenting arrangements. Often such matters also involve relocation issues.  Where possible, Simon encourages collaborative negotiation in respect of Children issues. He is otherwise experienced at running contested parenting matters.

Simon is available to be briefed on matrimonial property disputes. Having a Top Tier background in commercial law and corporate advisory especially equips him to act on a range of complex issues which often arise in such disputes.

Applications 

Simon is regularly briefed to undertake various applications in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in respect of Family Law matters. Such applications have previously included:

  • applications for leave to commence proceedings out of time; 

  • applications to set-aside default orders; 

  • applications to invoke the accrued jurisdiction of the Court; and 

  • applications to set aside final property orders.

Simon is regularly engaged to advise on property division issues including advice in respect of appropriate ranges for settlement. He is also regularly engaged to provide advice in respect of the prospects of succeeding at certain applications. Such advice has the potential to save clients from the cost of further litigation.
