BACKGROUND
Simon is a Brisbane based Barrister (first called in 2009) practicing in Family Law, Building & Construction Law and Commercial Litigation. Chambers is conveniently located in the Brisbane Court precinct at on level 14 of Inns of Court at 107 North Quay Brisbane QLD. 4000.
EDUCATION
Simon holds a Bachelor of Arts (UQ) with majors in Political Science and Sociology; a Bachelor of Laws (QUT); and a Masters of Laws (QUT). He has also undertaken the PLT course (QUT), the Bar Course and is an accredited Mediator.
Admissions
Simon was admitted as a solicitor in February 2005 where he initially practiced with Clayton Utz. During that time he worked in Insurance Litigation, Commercial Property, Information Technology and Mergers & Acquisitions where he remained until 2007. In 2007, he took a role with Baker & McKenzie’s London office undertaking work with their Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity teams.
Simon was first called to the Bar in 2009 where he has furthered his broad 'front-end' commercial experience by developing a practice in Family Law, Construction Litigation and Commercial Litigation.
FAMILY LAW BARRISTER
Simon undertakes a large range of Family Law work where he regularly provides advice and appears in respect of property and children related matters. He is especially equipped to deal with complex property division issues given his broad commercial experience. He is equally experienced in Children's matters.
Simon primarily practices in Brisbane but is also available for other regional and Courts located in other States.
Building & Construction Law Barrister
Simon regularly acts for (and against) the Queensland Building Construction Commission, Builders, Homeowners, Contractors and Suppliers in building and construction disputes. In particular, Simon specialises in Residential Building Disputes and in reviewable QBCC decisions. Simon also has experience in Judicial Review matters.
Commercial Litigation barrister
Simon regularly appears in the Magistrates, District and the Supreme Court of Queensland on commercial applications. He is also available to draft and settle pleadings, correspondence, affidavits and written submissions. Amongst other areas, Simon has developed a speciality in Banking matters and Building & Construction disputes.
